Sap Hana connection step by step investigation
Connection issues analyses could be related to the followings: company internal work, Database down, Ip address, Port number accessibility, Fire wall, SSH key. The current steps do not take into account sap hana connection error related to sap hana itself: that is to say: Locked user, wrong password, expiration date.
Step by step investigation
A/ Check for date and Time when the issue started.
- Hana studio : ( This is the fastest way to look at log and trace files )
If sap hana studio accesses the database.
Check log and trace file content. ( how to analyse sap hana log file content )
Log files messages may be clear enough to identify what is going wrong.
- Otherwise get to sap hana log and trace files on the server
Go into sap hana log and trace files and take note of the time when things started to get wrong.
Connect to the sap hana server as < sid >adm
( how to find sap hana log and trace files directories )
B/ Check for any company internal operations that was scheduled around that time.
In parallel to technical investigation, find out if specific operations were performed during that time. (Patch, update, reboot, New server added, and so on)
Knowing what has been done will help to resolve the problem quicker. You won't have to spend time searching for why the problem happened. You will be able to concentrate straight away on resolving the issue.
Normally scheduled operations are done outside working hours and at the week end.
However, now and then a very clever technician will operate on life database without warning.
C/ Is the database up and running?
